The security services of Ukraine successfully detained Chinese spies who were trying to steal Ukrainian missile technology. According to the SBU, they attempted to obtain secret documentation on the 'Neptune' missile system, which was used to destroy the Russian missile cruiser 'Moskva'.
The object of the Chinese intelligence activity was precisely this technical documentation. We thank the counterintelligence for the timely response that prevented the leak of important information.
The spies did not manage to achieve their goal and were detained during the transfer of secret documents. An investigation is underway, and they have been charged under the espionage article. They face a penalty of up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The identification and detention of spies is an important step in the fight against the intelligence activities of foreign agents on the territory of Ukraine. Security services continue to take measures to protect the national interests of the country in the context of the modern geopolitical situation.
