Arrest of a Municipal Leader in Odesa Oblast
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) apprehended the mayor of a city in Odesa Oblast on suspicion of extorting a $35,000 bribe. According to law enforcement, the official demanded this sum from a representative of a foreign company in exchange for approving permits to build a wind power plant. The mayor promised to facilitate the documentation process without obstacles, which triggered the investigation.
