The Security Service of Ukraine struck the Belbek airfield in Crimea: radars worth hundreds of millions of dollars destroyed

Удар по військовому аеродрому в Криму: українські сили пошкодили цінну техніку, завдавши значних втрат противнику.

Strike on Russian military infrastructure

The Security Service of Ukraine struck at the Russian military infrastructure in Crimea, particularly the Belbek military airfield. Long-range drones from the 'Alpha' Special Operations Center of SBU were used in the early morning, leading to significant enemy losses.

During the operation, equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars was destroyed. Among the destroyed objects are:

  • two long-range radar detection systems 'Nebo-SVU' with an estimated value of about $60-100 million;
  • Radar 92N6, which is part of the S-400 'Triumph' anti-aircraft missile system, its estimated price is between $30-60 million;
  • the 'Pantsir-S2' anti-aircraft missile system, whose cost ranges from $12-19 million;
  • MiG-31 aircraft with ammunition, the estimated price of which is between $30-50 million.

This attack signals Ukraine's continued active efforts to counter Russian military capabilities in the region.

Ukraine's strategy and escalation of the conflict

The successful SBU operation in Crimea highlights Ukraine's strategy of destroying key elements of Russian military infrastructure, which can significantly impact military operations in the region. The destruction of such facilities, like radar systems and anti-aircraft systems, can reduce the capabilities of Russian forces to conduct air operations, increasing Ukraine's chances for effective defense and counteroffensive actions.

These events indicate the ongoing escalation of the conflict and the intensification of hostilities from both sides.
