The average salary for full-time employees in Germany in April 2025 was 4784 euros before deductions, but most earned less. For Ukrainians considering employment in Europe, it is important to consider the industry, region, and taxes. This is stated by Destatis.

Salaries in Germany: what the statistics show for 2025

The average hourly wage in April was 28.19 euros gross. The monthly figure of 4784 euros does not include special payments, including bonuses. According to Destatis, about two-thirds of employees earn below the average: the high incomes of some specialists and managers raise the overall figure.

The median monthly salary for the same period, also without special payments, amounted to 4123 euros gross. The median divides employees in half based on earnings, thus providing a better indicator of the central tendency of the distribution.

For the entire year of 2025, the median annual income with bonuses and other special payments was 54,066 euros. This is approximately 4506 euros per month when dividing the total by 12. However, this calculation does not mean the same payment every month.

Among industries, annual median incomes varied by more than twice:

  • energy supply: 77,522 euros;

  • financial and insurance services: 76,594 euros;

  • agriculture, forestry, and fishing: 35,689 euros;

  • hospitality: 35,545 euros.

In the western states, the median annual income was 55,435 euros, while in the eastern ones without Berlin it was 46,013 euros. Therefore, comparing Ukrainian salaries in Germany, it is important to consider the workplace and profession, not just the national average.

Net income and expenses: how to evaluate job offers

All the cited statistical amounts are gross, that is, before taxes and social contributions. The actual payment depends on the individual's circumstances, including tax class and marital status.

A guideline is 2900–3200 euros net for salaries around 4784 euros gross. This is an approximate estimate, not a universal amount for every employee with such an income.

Before agreeing to a job offer, it is worth clarifying:

  • whether the stated salary is before deductions or after them;

  • whether bonuses and additional payments are included;

  • how many hours the contract stipulates;

  • how overtime hours are paid;

  • what housing and transportation expenses will need to be covered independently.

The estimated living budget for one person in the material is assessed at 1500–2500 euros per month. However, rent and daily expenses depend on the city and personal needs, so this amount is also not fixed.

To evaluate a job offer, it is more useful to calculate the remaining amount after taxes, housing, transport, and other mandatory expenses. This approach helps compare offers during job searching abroad.
