The average salary of an employee in Ukraine in August 2026 was 31,892 UAH. This is 23.1% higher than last year, but 1.1% lower than in July. Previous data on salaries in Ukraine in July also showed a monthly decline. This is reported by the State Statistics Service.
Average Salary by Regions of Ukraine: Where Payments Were the Highest
The highest average salary was recorded in Kyiv - 48,705 UAH. Next were Luhansk region with 33,981 UAH and Kyiv region with 32,404 UAH. The lowest indicators were in Chernivtsi region - 22,807 UAH, as well as in Kirovohrad - 22,869 UAH.
By types of economic activity, employees in the information and telecommunications sector earned the most on average - 79,170 UAH. The lowest salary recorded by the State Statistics Service was in education - 19,109 UAH. Earlier, we compared salaries by sectors and regions.
Salaries in August: Which Sectors Showed Growth
In most areas, the average salary decreased over the month. The most significant drop was 6.2% in the healthcare and social assistance sector. In administrative and support services, the decline was 0.4%.
At the same time, salaries increased in construction, information and telecommunications, professional and scientific activities, arts, sports, and entertainment. Increases of 0.1-4.7% were also recorded in public administration and defense, trade and real estate operations.
As of September 1, the wage arrears in Ukraine amounted to 3.8 billion UAH. For comparison, the average salary in Ukraine and Poland differs significantly, although the indicators depend on the calculation methods and taxes.
