Serhiy Rebrov's Comments on His Future

Ukraine's national team manager, Serhiy Rebrov, has addressed his future as his contract nears its end ahead of the World Cup. He confirmed receiving an offer from the Middle East, specifically the United Arab Emirates, but currently has no desire to return to club management. Rebrov emphasized he is seeking a more serious challenge. His comments highlight a clear focus on his national team duties as Ukraine prepares for crucial upcoming fixtures.

'My contract with the Ukrainian national team ends before the World Cup. If we qualify, I will, of course, remain on the bench; if not, we'll see. I'm already getting calls from the Emirates, tempting me with astronomical sums, but frankly, I don't really feel like going back there at the moment.' Serhiy Rebrov

Serhiy Rebrov took charge of the Ukrainian national side in June 2023. He has prior experience in the Middle East, having managed Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli in the 2017/18 season and UAE club Al-Ain from 2021 to 2023. The Ukrainian team is currently preparing for the new Nations League season, beginning with an away match against Hungary on September 25th.

Ukraine's Nations League Opponents

In the draw for the 2026/27 Nations League season, Ukraine was placed in Group B2. The opponents for the Ukrainian team in this group will be:

  • Hungary
  • Georgia
  • Northern Ireland

The winner of Group B2 will be promoted to League A of the Nations League.

Rebrov's statements signal his commitment to achieving success with the national team, which could be a crucial factor in their World Cup qualification campaign. At the same time, the lucrative offers from the Gulf underscore his market value and present a potential alternative should the team fail to secure a spot at the tournament.
