NABU Raids Batkivshchyna Party Headquarters

In response to a search conducted by Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) at the Batkivshchyna party office, MP Serhiy Vlasenko has filed a formal complaint with the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR). The raid took place on January 14 in Vlasenko's office, where party leader Yulia Tymoshenko was also present. During the operation, Tymoshenko was formally notified that she was under suspicion.

Vlasenko's Strong Condemnation

It is noteworthy that on January 13, NABU and prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) announced they had documented illegal activity by the head of a parliamentary faction. Serhiy Vlasenko, who leads a temporary parliamentary investigative commission, has previously exposed evidence of abuses within the High Qualification Commission of Judges and the Public Integrity Council. This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies and political figures.

“This is not an investigative action, but an act of terror! How is this any different from what the punitive agencies of Yanukovych did? Absolutely no difference. Complete lawlessness.”

Vlasenko stressed he would seek to hold the NABU officers who broke the law accountable and assured that his investigative commission would continue its work and produce results.

In recent weeks, the High Anti-Corruption Court has delivered three acquittals, which may point to the complex challenges within Ukraine's anti-corruption landscape. Raids on political party offices, especially those involving high-profile suspicions, can have significant implications for political stability and trust in anti-corruption institutions. Vlasenko's reaction and his pledge to continue the commission's work signal Batkivshchyna's intent to actively challenge these actions, potentially leading to further political conflict and investigations.
