A Chinese startup called Meng Xiaoyi has unveiled an artificial intelligence-based gadget designed to decode the sounds and behaviors of pets into human language. Attached to an animal's neck, this device analyzes the pet's emotional state and claims an accuracy rate of roughly 95%. Its system relies on Alibaba Cloud's Qwen language model, enabling precise examination of vocal signatures, along with anatomical and behavioral data specific to each animal.
Pre-orders for the device are now open in China, and since early May, users have reserved over 10,000 units. Priced at 799 yuan—approximately $118—the gadget has attracted around $1 million in early-stage funding. However, the startup has not released any scientific studies or technical documentation detailing how the device actually works.
