Statement by Ukraine’s top diplomat
During an informal Ukraine-NATO Council meeting at the foreign minister level, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha declared that the war has reached a pivotal moment. He urged Western allies to invest in Ukraine’s defense, noting that each day of the full-scale invasion costs the country approximately $450 million. Even as the conflict enters its fourth year, these expenditures remain staggering.
Sybiha also emphasized that a large portion of Ukraine’s military funding comes from Western partners. He stressed that Ukraine must not accept any initiatives that could compromise its territorial integrity or sovereignty.

According to Sybiha, pressure on Moscow is mounting. He identified three key components necessary for achieving peace:
- diplomacy
- pressure
- strength
The statement underscores the critical role of international support and collective efforts in securing stability and security in the region.
Sybiha’s remarks highlight the dire situation Ukraine faces amid the protracted war. The need for continued backing from global partners becomes increasingly clear as wartime costs climb and foreign assistance proves vital for sustaining the country’s defense capabilities. His words reinforce the importance of preserving Ukraine’s sovereignty—a crucial factor for future negotiations and the restoration of peace in the region.
As the conflict continues to escalate, the importance of strategic frameworks becomes even more evident. In a related discussion, Ukraine's Foreign Minister has elaborated on the essential elements that bolster the country's resilience during these challenging times.
