Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga expressed his expectations for the upcoming meeting between President Zelensky and American leader Trump during the presentation of the new government's action plan. Sybiga emphasized that Ukraine is doing everything to end the war with Russia by the end of this year and that cooperation with international partners has made significant progress in this direction.
'Regarding expectations for the upcoming meeting — it is about further progress, a clearer understanding of the parameters of future security guarantees, further work and approaching a trilateral format of Trump — Zelensky — Putin, possibly with the participation of other leaders,' — stated the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
Security guarantees issues for Ukraine
Sybiga stressed that the main task remains the development of security guarantees for Ukraine. Currently, active work is being done to specify such guarantees at the level of national security advisors, who must ensure the long-term stability of the country.
The Minister also emphasized the need to create an effective 'deterrence package' for the aggressor and stressed the importance of Russia understanding the consequences of its actions and interacting constructively.
'Russia must be aware that any attacks similar to those that occurred today in Kharkiv or Sumy will provoke an appropriate response,' — explained Ukraine's position regarding future Russian attacks.
The key tasks for Ukraine at the meeting between Zelensky and Trump include further progress in understanding the parameters of future security guarantees, cooperation in a trilateral format with Russia, and providing real stability guarantees for the Ukrainian state. Diplomatic efforts are aimed at creating an effective approach to deterring aggression and ensuring security for the future.
