Gratitude to international partners

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga expressed gratitude to Denmark, Finland, and Canada for their support of Ukraine and efforts in promoting sanctions against Russia, as well as for supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities. In his statement, he noted that these countries are actively contributing to strengthening the sanctions pressure on Russia, which is an important step in the struggle to restore peace.

Sybiga emphasized that throughout 2025, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) remained focused on Russia's war against Ukraine, which is a vital aspect of international support. In response to Russia's aggression, the 18th and 19th sanctions packages were adopted, and preparation for the 20th sanctions package has begun, indicating the continuity of efforts in this area.

The role of the international coalition

Finland, which has been supporting Ukraine since the onset of Russia's full-scale aggression, plays a crucial role in this international coalition. Additionally, Canada confirmed its readiness to continue supporting Ukraine within the G7 framework in 2026, highlighting the importance of international solidarity in the fight to restore Ukraine's sovereignty.

“We greatly appreciate the practical work done to advance the opening of negotiation clusters, as well as the tangible results in strengthening the sanctions pressure on Russia.” - Andriy Sybiga

The Minister emphasized that restoring a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace for Ukraine remains among the key priorities of the G7 agenda in 2025.

The importance of international support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression is underscored by the active actions of allies, who coordinate their efforts within the framework of sanctions policy. In particular, the preparation for a new sanctions package demonstrates the determination of the international community in combating aggression. These efforts not only increase economic pressure on Russia but also contribute to forming an international order that supports Ukraine's sovereignty. In this context, the continuation of solidarity from G7 and OSCE countries is critically important for achieving a just peace in the region.
