Sybiga demands punishment for xenophobia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga has called for punishment for xenophobic manifestations against Ukrainians, drawing attention to the case of 15-year-old Daria Gladyr being bullied in Poland. Daria is the daughter of a former player of the Ukrainian national volleyball team. Sybiga's statement was published on Facebook on Sunday and caused a wide resonance.

Discussion on the issue of xenophobia

The topic of xenophobia was discussed during Sybiga's negotiations with Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski. The minister noted that the attitude demonstrated towards the Ukrainian schoolgirl is categorically unacceptable. He received assurances from the Polish side that it is responding and will respond appropriately to this situation.

The Polish police have already confirmed the start of an investigation following media publications indicating serious attention to the matter. Daria Gladyr's parents also stated their intention to protect their child's rights in court. Andrii Sybiga emphasized that the Ukrainian people definitely do not deserve such treatment and called for action to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“This incident underscores the importance of combating xenophobia, which remains a pressing issue in many countries, including Poland.” - Andrii Sybiga

The response of the Polish authorities to this situation may be indicative of the further development of Ukrainian-Polish relations, considering that Ukrainians are one of the largest national minorities in Poland. Constant attention to such cases can help strengthen tolerance and mutual respect in society.
