Sybiha expressed gratitude to Canada for its support, highlighting contributions to the PURL initiative and sustained military aid. “Canada’s assistance has been timely and critically important, especially for our military personnel and local communities,” he emphasized.

Key Topics on the Agenda

During their conversation, Sybiha briefed Anand on the current state of the battlefield, ongoing peace initiatives, and Ukraine’s next steps toward EU accession. “Ukraine remains focused on strengthening security, implementing reforms, and advancing toward full EU membership,” he stated.

A high-level meeting on the repatriation of Ukrainian children is scheduled for May 11 in Brussels. As Sybiha noted, “bringing our children back remains a priority and a shared humanitarian responsibility.”

This meeting underscores the critical role of international support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict and the urgent need to advance peace efforts. Collaboration with Canada—particularly on military aid and humanitarian initiatives—is vital for a country striving for deeper integration into European structures. The focus on child repatriation further highlights the humanitarian dimension of the crisis, which demands immediate action.
