Five Russian vessels hit in Mariupol and Berdiansk by Ukraine's unmanned systems forces

Українські безпілотники вразили п'ять російських кораблів у Маріуполі та Бердянську.

Strikes on cargo ships in the Sea of Azov

On the night of June 5, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces attacked five cargo vessels belonging to the aggressor nation in the Sea of Azov, specifically in the ports of Mariupol and Berdiansk. The strikes targeted dry cargo ships and a tanker that were being used for military purposes. These ports have been under Russian occupation since 2022.

Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi commented on the situation, stating: 'The birds of the 1st Training Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces politely visited the dry cargo ships and the tanker. Good optics, heavy 100-kilogram arguments.'

Reports indicate that the strikes hit enemy vessels located in the waters of the temporarily occupied ports of Mariupol and Berdiansk, as well as in the coastal areas near these territories. The Ukrainian forces targeted dry cargo ships and a tanker that the aggressor nation was using for military operations.

Russian Black Sea looters attempted to operate covertly: they painted over the names of the ships and turned off navigation radars. In this way, the occupiers carried out a 'silent theft' of Ukrainian fuel and lubricants to supply their occupation forces.

Statistics and operational effectiveness

Additionally, on the night of June 4, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck enemy military and logistical targets. The command of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces also released statistics covering 358 days since its establishment.

  • During this period, Ukrainian drones neutralized over 100,000 enemy personnel.
  • Hundreds of thousands of pieces of equipment were destroyed.

These actions confirm the activity and effectiveness of Ukrainian forces in combating the aggressor in maritime domains.

The attacks on Russian cargo ships in the Sea of Azov highlight the growing effectiveness of Ukraine's unmanned systems, which are actively used to strike enemy military targets. These operations also underscore the importance of controlling maritime supply routes that Russia uses to support its military groups. In the context of the ongoing conflict, such operations could significantly impact the aggressor's logistics and resources.

The effectiveness of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces is further illustrated by recent operations in Crimea, where significant military assets, including the destruction of a warship and air defense systems, were reported. Such coordinated attacks underline the ongoing challenges faced by Russian forces in both the Sea of Azov and beyond.
