Ukrainian Drone Forces Destroy Russian FSB Command Post in Donetsk, Killing 27 Special Operatives

Бойці українських дронів знищили командний пункт російського ФСБ у Донецьку, ліквідувавши 27 спецпризначенців.

Strike on Russian FSB Command Center

On April 22 at 08:01, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an attack on a command post of the Russian FSB’s Mobile Operations Directorate in temporarily occupied Donetsk. The strike involved eight FP-2 drones, each carrying a warhead weighing between 60 and 100 kilograms.

The target was the FSB’s Mobile Operations Directorate, a specialized counterintelligence unit. According to reports, the attack resulted in 27 casualties among Russian special forces: 12 operatives were killed outright, and 15 others were wounded and required medical evacuation.

Joint Operation and Outcomes

The operation was planned by experts from the newly established Deep Strike Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with specialists from the 1st Corps of the National Guard ‘Azov.’ The strike itself was carried out by the MiddleStrike ‘Ptahy’ unit of the 1st Operational Center of the Security Service of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that the FSB’s Mobile Operations Directorate is responsible for a range of activities, including:

  • conducting sabotage operations
  • building intelligence networks
  • locating and detaining individuals deemed disloyal
  • physically eliminating opponents
  • coordinating pro-Russian militant groups

Given the scale of losses among Russian special forces, this could significantly impact their operational capabilities in the region. Such operations also highlight the growing effectiveness of drone technology in modern warfare, potentially reshaping the dynamics of combat in eastern Ukraine.

The recent strike on the Russian FSB command post is part of a broader strategy by the Ukrainian military to weaken enemy positions. In a series of coordinated attacks, the Ukrainian forces have effectively targeted key Russian assets, including radar systems and command centers.
