An important oil refinery in the Saratov region of Russia was attacked. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
«As part of reducing the offensive capabilities of the enemy, today (that is, July 1), units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck at the territory of the oil refinery of JSC «Saratovorgsintez» in the Saratov region of the Russian Federation», – the General Staff's message states.
The capacities of this refinery are used by the Russian military to supply fuel and lubricants to combat units participating in the war against Ukraine.
As a result of the attack, damage to the refinery's territory and technological installations has been confirmed, causing a fire. The final consequences of the strike are currently being assessed.
Strike on the military-industrial complex in Russia
The defense forces of Ukraine continue systematic work to undermine the military-economic potential of Russia, as confirmed by the recent strike. Thus, on July 1, a strike was made against a facility of the military-industrial complex of Russia - the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant «Kupol», located in the Udmurt Republic.
According to the General Staff, the target was chosen as part of activities to reduce the potential of the Russian air defense. The «Kupol» plant is an enterprise that produces short-range anti-aircraft missile systems for the needs of the Russian army.
Earlier, residents of occupied Donetsk and Luhansk reported explosions and drone attacks. Russia is actively increasing the production of combat aviation, while stagnation has engulfed 69% of the Russian economy, negatively affecting the income of the federal budget.
During the recent military actions in the Saratov region of Russia and the Udmurt Republic, strikes on important facilities in the oil refining and military-industrial sectors have been recorded. This indicates the continuation of efforts to undermine the military-economic potential of Russia by Ukraine. The last strike has become a part of the strategy to reduce the enemy's capabilities in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
