Strikes by Ukraine's Defense Forces target refinery in Tatarstan and oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai

Ударні дії Збройних сил України націлені на нафтопереробний завод у Татарстані та термінал у Краснодарському краї.

Blows dealt to critical enemy infrastructure

On August 19 and during the night leading into August 20, Ukraine's Defense Forces carried out attacks on several important adversary assets. Among the targets hit were the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, and the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Krasnodar Krai, Russia. Both locations reported strikes or fires.

The TANECO refinery was hit by an FP-1 drone built by Fire Point. This facility processes more than 16 million tonnes of oil per year, producing diesel, jet fuel, gasoline, and other petroleum products. The full scale of the damage is still being determined. Radomir Belyaev, head of Nizhnekamsk, mentioned a massive attack on the region in his posts.

Impact on resource supplies

Ukrainian forces also struck the Tamanneftegaz terminal at Volna in Krasnodar Krai, where a fire was reported. The terminal handles transshipment of crude oil, oil products, and liquefied hydrocarbon gases, with a capacity of up to 19.9 million tonnes annually. It serves the fuel needs of the Russian military.

According to an OSINT review by the firm Astra, Russian air defense tried to intercept the drone, but it continued toward the industrial zone containing TANECO, the TAIF-NK refinery, and Nizhnekamskneftekhim.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided information about the strikes.

Further details will likely clarify the scale of damage at these sites.

The attacks on strategic facilities inside Russia show an intensified push by Ukrainian forces in response to Russian aggression. Fires at such major plants could seriously affect fuel and resource supplies for the Russian army. They also underline how drone technology is reshaping modern combat, allowing Ukraine to strike targets well beyond its own borders.

As Ukrainian forces continue to target key enemy infrastructure, the recent strikes on the TANECO refinery and Tamanneftegaz terminal highlight a broader pattern of attacks. This escalation follows similar operations, such as the recent assault on the Saratov refinery and Engels airfield, demonstrating Ukraine's strategic focus on crippling Russia's resource capabilities.
