Heavy Snowfall in Ukraine: Road Services and Ministry of Health Transition to Enhanced Mode

В Україні тривають сильні снігопади: дорожні служби та медичні установи працюють у посиленому режимі.

Heavy Snowfall in Ukraine

Heavy snowfall and frost have engulfed most regions of Ukraine, creating a critical load on public services and medical staff. In this regard, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Community and Territory Development have appealed to citizens with recommendations, and road services have transitioned to an enhanced work mode.

Minister of Community and Territory Development Oleksii Kuleba confirmed that road services are currently operating in an enhanced mode to ensure safety on highways. The most difficult situation is observed in the Zhytomyr region, where up to 35 cm of snow has fallen in one day. Dangerous areas for movement have been identified, including:

  • Route M-06 Kyiv - Chop (bypasses of the towns of Korostyshiv and Zviahel)
  • Route M-07 Kyiv - Kovel - Yagodyn (near the village of Buchmany)
  • Route M-21 Vystupovychy - Zhytomyr (near the village of Sinhuriy)

Furthermore, the Ministry of Health has emphasized the importance of calling emergency medical teams only in cases where there is a direct threat to life and health. Criteria for dispatching a team are specified in order No. 583. Citizens are advised to exercise caution when moving in difficult weather conditions.

The Importance of Readiness for Extreme Weather Conditions

The situation with heavy snowfall in Ukraine underscores the importance of readiness of authorities and services to respond to extreme weather conditions. In situations where roads become dangerous and medical services are limited in capabilities, citizens should follow recommendations to avoid troubles. This also serves as a reminder of the necessity to ensure proper infrastructure and resources for such cases in the future.
