Supermarket Robbery Trial Concludes
A court in Chernihiv has sentenced a local man to seven years in prison for robbing a supermarket on June 18, 2025. The conviction stems from the theft of a single 0.5-liter bottle of vodka, valued at 91 hryvnias and 58 kopiykas. "He lingered outside for about five minutes, then returned to tell his wife he was going home. He walked out again, got about five meters away, and then heard someone shouting for him to stop and return what he had taken,"a witness stated.
The verdict can be appealed within 30 days at the Chernihiv Court of Appeal. Defense lawyer Oleksii Kinebas emphasized that
"theft under martial law now carries extremely severe liability."
