Bohdan-Hordii Beniuk Enlists in the Military
Bohdan-Hordii Beniuk, the 29-year-old son of Ukraine's People's Artist Bohdan Beniuk, has volunteered for service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The news emerged from an interview where actor Serhii Kalantai shared the update while speaking with journalist Alina Dorotiuk backstage at a theater. Kalantai noted that he learned of the enlistment directly from Bohdan-Hordii himself.
Beyond being the son of a celebrated actor, Bohdan-Hordii holds the title of a scholar, having previously earned a doctoral degree. Within the Beniuk family, two sons-in-law are also serving in the military. Before joining up, Bohdan-Hordii worked as a voice-over actor and was pursuing a career in production, having completed postgraduate studies and defended his dissertation.
The Beniuk Family's Patriotic Stand
By choosing to enlist, Bohdan Beniuk's son underscores the family's deep-rooted patriotism, a sentiment captured in Kalantai's comments:
'I was sitting in the dressing room with Bohdan Mykhailovych Beniuk and recently learned that his younger son has gone to serve. This is a man who defended his doctoral thesis. His two sons-in-law and his son are all serving. That is a real act of commitment!' Serhii Kalantai
Kalantai also praised Bohdan Beniuk for raising his children with strong values.
Earlier, Bohdan Beniuk faced online criticism regarding his son's studies during wartime. He has urged Ukrainians to firmly respond to the use of the Russian language in public spaces, stating:
'If you hear Russian, call it out immediately. Don't get angry, or you'll give yourself a heart attack. If they talk back? Spit in their face, and that's that.' Bohdan Beniuk
Additionally, Beniuk has defended acting instructors at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary University of Theatre, Cinema and Television, who face student allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct.
The Beniuk family continues to take a strong, active stance during this challenging period for the country, choosing a path of service and national defense. Bohdan-Hordii Beniuk's mobilization highlights both his personal dedication and the family's patriotic legacy, potentially inspiring others. Such decisions among young people, especially amid war, could help foster a new wave of national consciousness and social responsibility across Ukraine.
