General Syrskyi's Visit to the Donetsk Frontline
Ukraine's top military commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, recently traveled to active combat zones in the Donetsk region to reinforce defensive positions around the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka urban areas. During his visit, he noted that Russian forces have sharply increased their activity since April, requiring Ukrainian troops to take aggressive action to repel assaults. Over the past week, Ukrainian defenders successfully fought off 76 enemy attacks.
Meetings with Military Leadership
During the trip, Syrskyi operated within the area of responsibility of the 11th and 19th Army Corps, which are tasked with defending those key agglomerations. He held meetings with corps commanders, as well as with the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade 'Edelweiss' and the 81st Airmobile Brigade 'Slobozhanshchyna' of the Air Assault Forces. Discussions covered:
- the current tactical situation
- logistics and supply status
- coordination between units
- commanders' proposals for detecting and eliminating enemy infantry groups
“I worked in the area of responsibility of the 11th and 19th Army Corps, which are defending the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka-Druzhkivka agglomerations.”

Syrskyi also emphasized: “We are repelling constant attempts by Russian occupiers to use infiltration tactics to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Kostiantynivka. Counter-sabotage operations are ongoing in the city. Ukraine’s defense forces are conducting a series of active measures to locate and destroy the enemy.”
The visit focused heavily on countering enemy drones, constructing defensive lines and fortifications, and addressing immediate needs for ammunition and matériel. Syrskyi made several operational decisions to improve supply chains for Ukrainian troops and signed an order mandating the rotation of frontline soldiers.
This trip underscores the mounting pressure on the front lines, particularly in Donetsk Oblast, where Russian military activity is intensifying. Ukrainian command efforts are aimed at shoring up defensive positions and boosting combat effectiveness—moves that could prove critical to regional stability. The emphasis on logistics and troop rotation also highlights the importance of maintaining army morale and physical readiness during a prolonged war.
In light of the ongoing military operations in the Donetsk region, it is crucial to understand the broader context of Ukraine's defensive strategies. Recently, the Commander-in-Chief also visited the Pokrovsk frontline, where Ukrainian forces are facing intense challenges against enemy attacks.
