Ukrainian Armed Forces’ May Performance Report
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, has outlined the military’s key achievements for May, describing the frontline situation as both challenging and fluid. The most intense combat operations are concentrated near Pokrovsk, Oleksandrivka, and Huliaipole. During the month, Ukraine gained a net advantage of nearly +100 square kilometers in territory, factoring in both liberated and lost areas. Since the start of the year, Ukrainian troops have reclaimed over 600 square kilometers of land.
Operational Outcomes of Ukrainian Forces
Throughout May, Ukrainian units executed thousands of effective strikes against enemy military assets. Drone system units hit more than 88,000 targets, and according to the Unmanned Systems Command, over 30,500 Russian personnel were neutralized. Deep Strike operations also took out 111 hostile facilities linked to the military-industrial complex, energy grid, and fuel infrastructure. Direct and indirect economic damage inflicted on the adversary in May is estimated at roughly $1.058 billion.
Syrskyi underscored the critical work of air defense forces, which eliminated over 59,000 aerial targets and repelled 25 enemy missile and air strikes.
Every intercepted target means saved lives for our citizens.Additionally, May saw a series of successful strikes on military-industrial and fuel-energy sites within Moscow and the Moscow region, demonstrating the Defense Forces’ ability to inflict significant losses far beyond the front line.
In closing, Syrskyi noted that Ukrainian forces maintain the initiative in certain frontline sectors, despite a rising number of combat engagements. The enemy continues attempts to advance in eastern and southern Ukraine, but Ukrainian troops remain steadfast in defending their territory.
These May results highlight a sustained strategy of active defense and counteroffensive actions in the country’s east. Reclaimed land and destroyed enemy assets provide Ukraine with strategic advantages crucial for a protracted war. Equally vital is the role of air defense, which greatly reduces risks from aerial attacks, thereby boosting morale among both civilians and service members.
