Fresh Northern Offensive Looms as a Real Danger
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky has raised alarms over a credible threat of a renewed Russian military assault originating from Belarusian territory. According to him, the Russian General Staff is actively planning operations along the northern front, a development that has sparked concern among military experts and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
'This is real—we have the data. The Russian General Staff is currently calculating and planning offensive operations from the north,' said Oleksandr Syrsky.
In response to these challenges, Ukraine is preparing to roll out a new contract system for its military personnel. Specifically, soldiers who have been wounded will be offered contracts lasting between six and nine months. For those currently serving, the possibility of signing contracts for roughly ten months is under consideration. New recruits will enter into standard contracts spanning two to three years or more. A portion of the military will continue to serve under mobilization without a contract.
Pay Raise for Troops
The minimum financial compensation for military personnel will be set at 30,000 hryvnias, aimed at boosting motivation and supporting service members under challenging conditions. This initiative marks a key step in ensuring the stability and readiness of Ukraine’s armed forces against potential threats.
Syrsky’s statements highlight the urgency of the military situation in Ukraine, given the activity of Russian forces. The new contract terms and pay increase are designed not only to raise troop morale but also to ensure the Armed Forces are prepared for possible aggressive moves by Russia.
