Meeting on the Development of Unmanned Systems

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a meeting dedicated to the development of unmanned systems. During the discussion, the plans of the Russian Federation to increase the number of unmanned military personnel to 101 thousand by April 1 were reviewed. The results of target destruction by Ukrainian drones, the creation of interceptor platoons, and the development of robotic complexes were also analyzed.

According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, in February, Ukrainian drones destroyed over 105.2 thousand enemy targets, a quarter of which—over 26.3 thousand—was accomplished by the UAV Forces grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Syrskyi noted that the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to maintain an advantage in the use of multi-rotor type FPV drones, although Russia has gained the capacity to produce over 19 thousand FPV drones per day.

'Our drones destroyed about 4.2 thousand enemy pilot positions in a month,' Syrskyi noted.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the establishment of UAV interceptor platoons was discussed, which will have the task of destroying FPV drones, quadcopters, and other enemy attack drones, as well as improving logistics for the Ukrainian military. To accomplish these tasks, the following will be used:

  • anti-drone rifles
  • EW systems
  • net guns
  • other means

Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized the importance of developing ground robotic complexes, which completed over 2.3 thousand tasks in the past month, including logistical, engineering, and combat operations.

Oleksandr Syrskyi also met with the commanders of corps, brigades, and battalions in the Donetsk region, where he approved decisions to strengthen defense resilience and improve logistics. 'I set new tasks for the development of unmanned system structures. I issued orders to address problematic issues and ensure the supply for units and training centers,' he noted.

The Importance of Unmanned Technologies

This meeting highlights the importance of unmanned technologies in modern warfare, as both sides are actively increasing their capabilities in this area. Given the planned increase of Russian unmanned forces, Ukraine needs to maintain a technological advantage and adapt its strategies for effective resistance. The development of interceptor platoons and the refinement of logistics are key elements that can strengthen Ukraine's defense capability in future combat actions.
