The situation with electricity supply in Ukraine
The electricity supply situation in Ukraine will improve from December 16 due to the repair of the transmission system and the inclusion of a nuclear power unit. Large-scale attacks on electricity supply that occurred on December 6 led to significant problems in electricity supply. However, according to representatives of 'Ukrenergo', stabilization of the situation is expected in the near future.
Expected improvements
In particular, thanks to the repairs of the transmission system, 'Ukrenergo' plans to increase the flow of electricity by 300 MW from the West to the Center and East of Ukraine. Olha Buslavets noted:
‘This will significantly improve electricity supply in the regions that were most affected by outages.’ - Olha Buslavets
In addition, the inclusion of the second unit of the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant is also expected, which will add power to the overall grid.
Thus, the planned measures aim to improve the electricity supply situation in Ukraine, especially under conditions where uneven outages have become a common occurrence due to recent attacks on the energy infrastructure. As of December 16, Ukrainians can hope for improved electricity supply.
Improving the electricity supply situation is an important step toward restoring stability in Ukraine, especially in winter, when energy demand increases. The inclusion of a nuclear power unit and repairs to the transmission system can significantly reduce the load on the energy infrastructure, which, in turn, may lower the risk of new outages. These measures may also positively impact the economic situation in the country, providing businesses and households with the necessary electricity for normal functioning.
