Denmark, Sweden, and Norway have joined the U.S. initiative to supply high-priority weapons for Ukraine through NATO. The three Scandinavian countries have committed to allocate $500 million for the purchase of American weapons.
Danish support
The Danish government plans to spend $90 million on the program. The money will be used to purchase American air defense systems, ammunition for Patriot missiles, and artillery weapons. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen emphasized: 'This initiative will help Ukraine defend its independence from Russia, which is trying to undermine the sovereignty of the country, particularly through airstrikes.'
Speed is important
Currently, the U.S. and NATO have intensified funding for American weapons for Ukraine. The Defense Minister called for urgency: 'We need to act quickly. Therefore, we are committing funds to this initiative immediately. If additional support is needed later, we are ready to consider it further.'
