In June 2026, the number of people with temporary protection in Poland decreased by 6,335 people. This is the largest decline among EU countries in a month. At the same time, the statistics do not show how many Ukrainians specifically left Poland for other EU states. This is indicated by Eurostat data.
The reduction in the indicator may be related not only to relocation but also to the cancellation of status, departure beyond the EU, or changes in the basis for residence. Therefore, referring to 6,335 as the exact number of Ukrainians who moved from Poland to other EU countries is incorrect.
How many Ukrainians remained in Poland and the EU as of June 30, 2026
At the end of June, temporary protection in EU countries was used by 4.41 million citizens of countries outside the European Union. Over 98.5% of them were Ukrainians.
Over the month, the total number of beneficiaries of protection in the EU increased by 24,380 people, or 0.6%. The largest number of people with such status was in three countries:
- Germany – 1,286,230 people;
- Poland – 961,170 people;
- Czech Republic – 380,810 people.
Altogether, these countries hosted more than two-thirds of Ukrainians who are using the temporary protection mechanism in the European Union.
In terms of population, the greatest number of beneficiaries of protection was in the Czech Republic – 35.8 persons per thousand residents. In Slovakia, the figure was 27.2, while in Cyprus it was 26.8 persons.
Which EU countries saw an increase in Ukrainians in June 2026
The largest increase in the number of beneficiaries of temporary protection was recorded in Italy – by 4,115 people. In the Czech Republic, the figure increased by 3,835, and in Germany, it rose by 2,960 people.
These figures do not confirm that new beneficiaries of status arrived specifically from Poland. Eurostat provides changes in each country separately but does not track the migration routes of specific individuals in this statistics.
Apart from Poland, a reduction in the number of beneficiaries of protection in June was recorded only in Belgium and Ireland. There, the figures decreased by 35 and 15 people, respectively.
Thus, in the first month of summer, there were 6,335 fewer beneficiaries of temporary protection in Poland. However, it is impossible to determine how many of them moved to Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, or other EU countries based on the published data.
