In the first month of the program '3000 km across Ukraine' passengers exchanged their accumulated kilometers for about 80 thousand free train tickets. Over 500 thousand Ukrainians registered in the Ukrzaliznytsia application to participate in the program. At the initial stage, the initiative is applied to trains to and from frontline regions. Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba reports this here.
Families with children, elderly people, volunteers, families of servicemen, and other categories of passengers could benefit from the program. In total, within the framework of the program, Ukrainians made trips with a total length of 38 million kilometers.
The 3000 km across Ukraine program: How many tickets passengers received
In December, the highest demand was for the following railway routes:
-
No. 101/102 Kherson – Barvinkove;
-
No. 52/51 Odesa – Zaporizhzhia;
-
No. 143/144 Sumy – Rakhiv;
-
No. 88 Zaporizhzhia – Kovel.
These routes have become leaders in the number of trips within the program.
Free UZ tickets: Why the program was introduced
The initiative is implemented without involving additional funds from the state budget. It combines social support for passengers with passenger flow management: it stimulates travel on less busy days and hours and reduces peak load on the railway.
According to Oleksiy Kuleba, the program is planned to be scaled in the future. During off-peak periods, passengers will be offered up to 250 thousand seats per month, which should make travel more accessible for those for whom the ticket price is decisive. The first results have already demonstrated the program's effectiveness for supporting frontline regions and stabilizing railway operations.
Let us remind you, Ukrzaliznytsia launched a modernized electric train for routes in Kyiv region and neighboring areas. This electric train will operate in the direction of Teterev, Nizhyn, and Hrebinka.
