New Health Screening Program for Over-40s Begins
Ukraine has initiated a new state-funded health screening program for citizens aged 40 and above. Starting January 31, 2026, invitations are being sent via the Diia app, offering a targeted payment of 2000 hryvnias for medical check-ups. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize preventive healthcare in the country. The first notifications will go to those born on January 1st, with the queue for invitations being determined by an individual's birth date. Messages are delivered exactly 30 days after a person's birthday.
Program Participation Requirements
To receive the benefit, eligible citizens must accept the invitation within the Diia app and submit an application. The state will then allocate the funds. The 2000 hryvnia sum is strictly for covering the cost of screening examinations and cannot be used for other purposes. Over 800 medical facilities across Ukraine have already joined the program network.
The program's primary goal is the early detection of chronic diseases and the prevention of complications. All services within this screening package are free for the patient. As the National Health Service of Ukraine stated,
“Receive 2000 hryvnia, which can be used exclusively to pay for screening examinations.”
The introduction of the Health Screening 40+ program marks a significant step in improving Ukraine's healthcare system by focusing on preventing chronic conditions that can severely impact quality of life. The involvement of hundreds of medical institutions highlights the state's effort to ensure access to medical services, which is particularly crucial given the increasing strain on the healthcare infrastructure. Participation in the program is also expected to raise public awareness about the importance of regular medical check-ups.
