The 'Health Screening 40+' Program
In 2026, the 'Health Screening 40+' program will be launched in Ukraine, which provides for a personal target amount for examinations of 2000 hryvnias. This initiative aims to improve the health of the population, focusing on cardiovascular risks, diabetes, and mental health. The program does not include cancer screenings.
Main Directions of Examinations
The main directions of examinations within the program cover three key blocks:
- Cardiovascular risks
- Diabetes
- Mental health
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine plans to introduce mechanisms to stimulate the primary health care sector, which will improve access to treatment, especially in rural communities.
Yevgeny Gonchar, a representative of the Ministry of Health, noted that the amount of 2000 hryvnias allocated per person is expected to cover the set of services provided for in the program.
Additionally, as part of the Medical Guarantees Program, state funding of 5.5 billion hryvnias is planned for the next year for the cardiovascular component.
Thus, the 'Health Screening 40+' program will be an important step in improving medical services for Ukrainians over 40 years old, allowing for timely detection and treatment of serious diseases.
The implementation of the 'Health Screening 40+' program is a significant step towards improving the healthcare system in Ukraine, especially considering the growing health issues among the population. Since the program focuses on the early detection of serious diseases, it can reduce the burden on the healthcare system in the future. Moreover, funding for the cardiovascular component gives hope for improved treatment of cardiovascular diseases, which are one of the leading causes of mortality in Ukraine.
