Kyiv Road Authority Searched in Probe Over Winter Road Supply Purchases

Управління дорожнього господарства Києва опинилося під слідством через закупівлі зимових матеріалів для утримання автошляхів.

Investigators Target Kyiv's Road Authority

Law enforcement officers are conducting searches at the Kyivavtodor municipal corporation as part of a pre-trial investigation into potential violations in the procurement of materials for winter road maintenance for the 2024-2025 season. The searches, authorized by a judge of the Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv, are taking place on February 24. This investigation is part of a broader anti-corruption drive in Ukraine targeting public procurement, a sector historically vulnerable to abuse.

This is not the first such action; similar searches were carried out last week on February 19. At that time, officers searched the premises of Kyivavtodor, several companies involved in street and road maintenance, and the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration. Employees of the corporation are reportedly cooperating fully with the investigation, providing all requested documents.

Procurement Procedures Under Scrutiny

The Kyiv City State Administration has stated that all procurements were conducted in accordance with public tender procedures, underscoring the corporation's intent to comply with the law in securing materials for essential winter road upkeep. The investigation is ongoing, and its findings could significantly impact the future operations of Kyivavtodor.

These actions highlight the critical importance of transparent spending on vital infrastructure, especially for a city like Kyiv that faces harsh winter conditions. The road authority's stated openness to cooperating with law enforcement suggests an effort to address any past issues and prevent future legal breaches in its procurement processes.
