Expanded Employment Services Now Available at Administrative Centers
From the end of February 2024, over 1,300 Administrative Service Centers (ASCs) across Ukraine will begin offering 11 new and updated services from the State Employment Service. This expansion, mandated by a recent Cabinet of Ministers decision, aims to improve support for both job seekers and employers. This move is part of a broader effort to modernize public service delivery in Ukraine.
Previously, employment services were only available in about half of the nation's 1,300+ ASCs. The goal of this nationwide rollout is to increase the efficiency of employment support and provide citizens with more convenient options for resolving labor-related matters.
What New Services Will Be Offered?
The new suite of services accessible at ASCs will include:
- Registering, renewing, or terminating an individual's official status as unemployed;
- Obtaining official certificates confirming registration and the amount of unemployment benefits accrued;
- Submitting documents to receive burial assistance in the event of a registered unemployed person's death;
- Applying for or extending work permits for foreigners and stateless persons;
- Amending or revoking existing work permits.
These changes are designed to streamline employment-related procedures and ensure more convenient access to essential services for all participants in the labor market.
Broadening the reach of employment services through ASCs could be a significant step in strengthening the social safety net for the unemployed, especially given current economic pressures. By making it easier for employers to navigate hiring regulations, this initiative may also help stimulate job creation and contribute to lowering the national unemployment rate.
