Military Enlistment Office Launches Probe After Draft-Eligible Man Dies During Medical Board

Військовий комісаріат розпочав розслідування після трагічної смерті чоловіка, який проходив медичну комісію.

Internal Investigation Following a Citizen's Death

An official inquiry has been initiated by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC and SP) after a man died while undergoing a military medical commission. The incident occurred on May 5, 2026, when a notification team—comprising service members from the regional TCC and a representative of the National Police of Ukraine—stopped a draft-eligible individual who had violated military registration rules and was subject to conscription.

During the medical examination, the man suddenly fell ill, prompting an immediate call for an ambulance. Emergency medical personnel provided urgent care for 45 minutes but ultimately pronounced him dead. In response, an internal investigation has been ordered, and a criminal case has also been opened.

Additional Incidents and Official Response

Separately, a man died at the Lviv Regional TCC, with alcohol poisoning cited as the cause. Another death of a mobilized individual was recorded at a TCC facility in Kryvyi Rih. These cases highlight growing concerns about safety and medical care for those undergoing conscription procedures.

“The results will be announced upon completion. The leadership and personnel of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional TCC and SP are providing full assistance to law enforcement agencies and are cooperating with the investigation.” — Representatives of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional TCC and SP

These events underscore the serious risks associated with military medical commissions, especially amid ongoing mobilization. Deaths occurring on TCC premises have raised alarm over the security and medical support provided to individuals subject to the draft. The ongoing internal probes and criminal proceedings may prove critical in clarifying the circumstances and preventing similar tragedies in the future.

The recent incident in Dnipro is not an isolated case, as another man tragically passed away at a recruitment center in Kryvyi Rih. This alarming trend raises serious questions about the health protocols in place during military enlistment processes.
