Deadly Crash on the Boryspil-Dnipro Road
On June 22, a catastrophic collision between two cars occurred on the Boryspil-Dnipro highway near the village of Rohoziv. A 70-year-old man driving a Renault Sandero crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Nissan Altima driven by a 35-year-old man. The impact killed five people, with four dying at the scene and one succumbing to injuries later in the hospital.
Those who died at the crash site were:
- the driver of the Renault Sandero;
- two female passengers in the same car, aged 75 and 95;
- a 40-year-old male passenger in the Nissan Altima.
Additionally, a 69-year-old female passenger from the Renault Sandero passed away in the hospital. In total, the accident claimed five lives. Two other people were injured and hospitalized: the driver of the Nissan Altima and an 18-year-old female passenger from the Renault Sandero.
Emergency services received the report of the crash at 7:24 AM. Police have launched a criminal investigation under Article 286, Part 3 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which covers traffic safety violations resulting in multiple fatalities.
Other Accidents Across Ukraine
On the same day, a separate fatal crash occurred on the Kyiv-Znamianka road near Kaharlyk, where a 57-year-old man driving a Citroen C-Elysee collided with a DAF truck and died. In Kyiv, on Sadova Street, a Hyundai driver crashed into a store. The driver showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested by police using handcuffs, in accordance with Ukraine’s National Police law.
