The former mayor of Zhytomyr, and now the head of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, stated that the publication on the 'Glavkom' website about the new social housing for internally displaced persons contains inaccurate information. In particular, the pricing of housing construction.

The article discussed the high price of construction materials, which leads to an increase in the final cost of housing for displaced persons - 68 thousand UAH per square meter.

Sukhomlyn explained that the real cost per square meter is 57.5 thousand UAH, and excluding furniture and equipment, it is 33.5 thousand UAH per square meter. This price includes furnished apartments, as well as important aspects such as shelter and the height of the building, which directly affect the price per square meter.

Assistance in the development of social housing

According to Sukhomlyn, interior finishing and other work is ongoing in three buildings in Zhytomyr, while roofing has already been completed in the fourth one. These buildings will be prepared for living, equipped with furniture, household appliances, and more.

Barrier-free access to all buildings is also planned, including specially equipped apartments on the first floors for people with reduced mobility. It is planned that the program for the development of housing in Ukraine will be implemented by the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure, with financing from the European Union, under the leadership of the Northern Environmental Financial Corporation.

Following the guidance of the former mayor of Zhytomyr, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, inaccuracies in the calculations regarding the cost of social housing for internally displaced persons, published on the 'Glavkom' website, were noted. It is also claimed that the process of building new housing for displaced persons is ongoing, and the housing will be equipped with everything necessary for comfortable living. Plans also include barrier-free access for all residents, including people with disabilities.
