World Champion in Unarmed Combat: How a KHNUVS Student Balances Sports and Studies

The story of KHNUVS champion Yelyzaveta Onishchenko began at the age of 7 in a hand-to-hand combat section. Even then, she impressed her trainers and could perform over 200 push-ups.



Yelyzaveta Onishchenko is a multiple medalist and champion of the world and Ukraine. Among her main titles are a two-time world champion in hand-to-hand combat, a champion of Ukraine, and a vice-world champion in French boxing, as well as a medalist in Ukrainian kickboxing championships.



Entering KHNUVS was a significant decision for the athlete, as the documents were submitted just before the full-scale invasion. At the university, Yelyzaveta successfully balances intense training with studying.



A true champion is not only someone who defeats opponents but also someone who overcomes themselves every day
- these words of the girl have become a motto not only for her but also for those around her.
