Capacity Limits for Private Solar Power Stations
Housing and utilities expert Oleg Popenko has commented on the power capacity limits for private solar power stations in Ukraine, as well as the mechanisms for selling energy that can benefit their owners. He stated that in Ukraine, there is a 30 kW limit for installing solar panels in private households. Popenko noted that if everyone had the opportunity to install 30 kilowatts, it would significantly improve the country's energy situation. This is particularly relevant as Ukraine seeks to bolster its energy resilience and diversify its power sources.
'If everyone installed 30 kilowatts for themselves, it would be a dream scenario,' the expert emphasized.
Equipment Costs and the Benefits of Solar Energy
Popenko also discussed the cost of equipment needed to create a solar power station. According to him, a system with an inverter and batteries for 15-20 kW will cost at least $25,000-$30,000. He added that a state loan for installing a basic station with a capacity of up to 10 kW amounts to up to 450,000 hryvnias, which could provide significant support for those planning to invest in renewable energy sources.
The expert highlighted the profitability of using solar energy, pointing out that the cost of electricity obtained from the sun during the day would be around one to one and a half hryvnias, while during peak hours it could be sold for up to 10 hryvnias. This price differential creates a direct financial incentive for homeowners.
'Sunshine in every home - and then everyone can get to work, without having to invent anything,' urged Popenko, stressing the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources in Ukraine.
Thus, the expert proposes considering the opportunities that solar energy opens up for private households and underscores the importance of state support in this area.
In Ukraine, where energy independence and stability are becoming increasingly pressing issues, the implementation of solar power stations at the household level can reduce dependence on traditional energy sources. State support in the form of loans and subsidies can stimulate the population to invest in renewables, which in turn would positively impact the country's environmental situation and economy.
