Every year, JustConf brings together brave and open-minded professionals in criminal justice, creating a platform for ideas that not only resonate but also change the system from within. It is not just a conference - it is a place where new approaches are born and a vision for the future of criminal justice is formed.
This year, the speaker will be Mykola Karas, Deputy Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office with over 12 years of experience in the field of criminal justice, eight of which he dedicated to fighting corruption.
My idea is to make the court hearing faster, more efficient, and fairer. I propose that the parties provide a list of evidence at the beginning of the process so that the court can effectively plan the hearing, set deadlines, and avoid delays.
This approach is already in effect in the USA and the UK: the court controls the process, the sequence, and the duration of the evidence examination. It is about thinking as a whole: when the transparent logic of the court process ensures efficiency for the system and fairness for all participants.
Mykola Karas will present his ideas on December 4 at JustConf2025: Thinking as a Whole. Registration for participants is open until November 20.
The annual JustConf conference is not just a gathering of professionals in criminal justice, but also a place where innovative ideas for improving the system are born and discussed. Its participants have the opportunity to learn about best practices and contribute to shaping the future development of criminal justice.
