Ukraine Must Shift to Proactive Actions in the Energy Sector

Ukraine must take measures for asymmetric strikes on Russia's critical infrastructure, including factories for rocket and drone production, as well as key nodes of its own energy system. This opinion was expressed by energy expert Viktor Kurtev.

'Undoubtedly, we need to take an active position. If we understand that they can produce 500-600 'Shaheds' a day, then the first and most crucial task we have is to simply burn down the factory in Yelabuga for drone production. Period,' Kurtev stated emotionally.

The expert believes that Ukraine has sufficient forces and means to deal painful blows to the enemy. The next target should be the enterprises of the Russian defense industry that produce critical components for rockets.

'If we understand that they produce up to a hundred units per month across the entire line of cruise and ballistic missiles, and in these production chains there are four key enterprises supplying critical components - navigation systems, guidance systems - then we must burn these factories. They are non-renewable,' emphasized the expert.

Vulnerability of the Russian Energy System

Kurtev also emphasized the vulnerability of the Russian energy system due to large distances and a 'sparse' network between major agglomerations.

'There are not many points and planar targets. If something guaranteed reaches there, then the European part of Russia will surely go dark. Guaranteed, I emphasize. And this can be done,' he asserts.

Regarding the possibility of power outage in Moscow, the expert noted that frontal attacks are ineffective; however, there are 'creative asymmetric actions' that can achieve results. The goal of such actions is to force the enemy to adhere to the 'rules of the game' and achieve parity.

Kurtev is convinced that only an active position and effective strikes will allow Ukraine to force the Kremlin to end the terror and return to parity.

During a discussion about strategy in the energy sector, expert Viktor Kurtev emphasized the importance of proactive actions by Ukraine in asymmetric warfare against Russia. He expressed the idea of burning down rocket and drone production factories in Russia, which could neutralize the threat from the neighboring country. He also mentioned the vulnerability of the Russian energy system and potential avenues that would allow Ukraine to achieve parity in this area.
