Bohdan Bukhonko: A Life Cut Short

On May 6, 2024, 26-year-old soldier Bohdan Bukhonko died in the Kharkiv region. Born on May 24, 1997, in Vorokhta, Ivano-Frankivsk region, he served in the State Border Guard Service and was mobilized on March 11, 2022. While defending the 'Krystal' company strongpoint in the village of Pishchane, Kupiansk district, he sustained fatal injuries during a Russian FPV drone attack.

Career and Achievements

Bukhonko competed in Nordic combined at the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Complex Children's and Youth Sports School of Winter Sports, where he earned the title of Candidate for Master of Sports. After completing ninth grade, he studied at the Ivano-Frankivsk College of Physical Education, qualifying as a teacher and ski coach. Following his studies, he worked at the Bukovel resort and, from 2021, taught football to children at the municipal club 'Olymp' in the village of Tatariv, Nadvirna district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

His funeral took place on May 12, 2024, in Vorokhta. For his service, he was posthumously awarded the Order 'For Courage' III degree. He is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister, and girlfriend.
