The investigative authorities of the State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches in the apartment of Hero of Ukraine, pilot Andrey Pilshchikov. This occurred in connection with a case involving the activist and head of the Anti-Corruption Center, Vitaliy Shabunin, reports 'Glavcom' citing 'Suspilne'.
The pilot's mother, Liliya Averyanova, stated that the investigative authorities arrived with search warrants at Dzhus's apartment in Kharkiv. The woman was in Kyiv, so the participants in the search were able to avoid misunderstandings and called for the keys to the apartment. Visitors to the apartment, including Vitaliy Shabunin, had recently been there.
They (the investigative authorities) just call me and tell me that they will break down your doors, because we are looking for a criminal here, literally. They said I should come.
Liliya Averyanova emphasized that she is interested in the apartment not being left empty, allowing friends and acquaintances to stay there in the absence of the owners. She also explained that this helps avoid problems and maintenance issues during her absence.
Shabunin's accusations and searches in the apartment and military unit
The law enforcement agencies suspect Vitaliy Shabunin of evading military service and fraud. It is also claimed that the head of the Anti-Corruption Center illegally used an SUV that was imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid for the army's needs.
Recently, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv established a preventive measure for Vitaliy Shabunin. The court obliged the activist to comply with personal obligations until August 20. No specific accusations regarding property violations and breach of official duties have been announced yet.
