This has become part of President Donald Trump's new strategy. Whitaker noted that Trump proposes funding the weapons not from the US budget, but also engaging in diplomatic negotiations and the possibility of strikes in Russia.
«We all want this war to end», Whitaker noted.
The ambassador also pointed out that thanks to the created conditions, dialogue between Ukraine and Russia is leading to positive changes, including the exchange of prisoners.
Trump also commented on Russia's statements regarding the legitimacy of Zelensky
The President of the USA refuted the statements of Moscow officials about the illegitimacy of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing the opinion that such statements are nonsense. Trump believes that such statements should not be paid attention to.
«It doesn't matter what they say. It's all nonsense. They are just posing», Trump said.
