USA to Begin Indefinite Sale of Venezuelan Oil: Where the Funds Will Go

USA to Begin Indefinite Sale of Venezuelan Oil

The USA will begin the indefinite sale of Venezuelan oil, with the funds raised from the sale going to benefit the Venezuelan people through accounts controlled by the US government. US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright announced this initiative, which involves using accumulated reserves of crude oil for the initial sales. The proceeds from the sale will be credited to accounts controlled by the US government.

Initiative and Its Consequences

As part of this program, American military forces seized an oil tanker under the Russian flag associated with Venezuela. It is noted that the restoration of Venezuelan oil fields requires significant investments, estimated at tens of billions of dollars, as well as a prolonged timeframe—over ten years of work. The USA also intends to supply necessary chemicals and equipment for the restoration of heavy oil extraction.

Chris Wright emphasized that instead of blocking oil supplies, the US government will allow oil to flow to refineries both in the USA and around the world, ensuring stable supplies. At the same time, the sales will be conducted directly by the US government. Senator Marco Rubio noted that oil will be sold on the market at market prices, without the discounts previously received by Venezuela. He also stressed the need for monitoring how the received funds are used to ensure they benefit the Venezuelan people, not corruption or the regime.

President Donald Trump confirmed that this oil will be sold at market price, and the proceeds will be under the control of the US government to ensure their use for the benefit of the peoples of both Venezuela and the USA.

Thus, the new US policy regarding Venezuelan oil aims not only at economic support but also at financial control to exclude the possibility of their use for corrupt purposes.

This US initiative reflects a shift in approach to the Venezuelan oil and gas industry, particularly in the context of restoring the economy of a country suffering from political and social crises. An important part of this strategy is financial oversight to ensure that funds obtained from oil sales benefit the people rather than support corrupt structures. This could be an important step towards improving the lives of Venezuelans if implemented effectively and transparently.
