The U.S. is Lagging in the Development of Combat Drones
According to the Politico portal, the American army has issues compared to Ukraine and Russia in the development and use of combat drones. Experts assert that the U.S. is behind in creating complex unmanned aerial vehicles that are already successfully used in real combat operations.
One of the Marine Corps veterans noted that the U.S. army is lagging in modern technologies due to its biased mindset shaped during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Ukraine has demonstrated that drones and artificial intelligence can significantly change the conditions of combat operations.
Experts urge the Pentagon to simplify procurement processes, enhance involvement of commercial production capacities, and purchase ready-made parts from the market.
It was also noted that Ukrainian military personnel have already learned to effectively use drones, while in the U.S. this process is just beginning. Previously, a successful experiment was conducted in the U.S. where a drone was shot down using an FPV drone outside military conflict zones.
