U.S. and Israel Conduct Joint Strike
In a joint military action codenamed 'Epic Fury,' the United States and Israel destroyed an Iranian corvette near the Chah Bahar pier in the Gulf of Oman. This operation triggered a retaliatory response from Iran, which initiated mass attacks on U.S. and allied military bases across the region, including in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. This escalation occurs amid a period of significant political transition within Iran.
Consequences of the Escalating Conflict
Following the death of Ali Khamenei, a temporary council was established to lead Iran, including Head of the Judiciary Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei and Assembly of Experts member Ayatollah Alireza Arafi. Iranian strikes targeted regional sites, including Israel. In the Israeli city of Beit Shemesh, a missile strike killed at least nine people and wounded over 20. In the United Arab Emirates, three foreign nationals (citizens of Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh) were killed and more than 50 were wounded. One local resident was killed and 32 were injured in Kuwait.
The UAE Ministry of Defense reported intercepting:
- 165 ballistic missiles;
- two cruise missiles;
- 541 drones.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have struck the U.S. aircraft carrier 'Abraham Lincoln' with four missiles, but U.S. officials have not yet confirmed any damage. Reports also indicated strikes on British bases in Cyprus and the French Camp de la Paix base in Abu Dhabi. Three U.S. service members were killed and five others severely wounded during operations against Iran.
Iranian representative Masoud Pezeshkian stated: 'We will destroy enemy bases and capabilities.'
This conflict continues to escalate, raising significant concerns within the international community.
The surge in violence between Iran, the U.S., and Israel underscores the deep-seated regional tensions fueled by military actions and political shifts. The situation is complicated not only by internal changes in Iran but also by the international response to the conflict. Many nations are closely monitoring developments, as the repercussions could have a serious impact on global security and stability in the Middle East.
