U.S. Slaps Sanctions on China and Belarus for Aiding Iran

Сполучені Штати запроваджують обмежувальні заходи проти Китаю та Білорусі за підтримку Ірану.

New U.S. Sanctions Target Iran

The United States has announced fresh sanctions against individuals and companies from China, Hong Kong, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates for helping Iran acquire military equipment and materials used to produce drones and missiles. These measures aim to disrupt Iran's military industry supply chain, making it harder for Tehran to access essential components.

This follows an earlier round of sanctions in late April, when the U.S. targeted 35 entities and individuals involved in evading restrictions and financing Iranian activities. Chinese firms have been actively shipping components for Shahed-style kamikaze drones to both Iran and Russia, ignoring U.S. sanctions in the process.

“Under President Trump’s strong leadership, we will continue to act to ensure America’s safety and strike at foreign individuals and companies that supply weapons to the Iranian military for use against American forces,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Pressure Campaign on Iran

These new measures are part of a broader U.S. strategy to pressure Iran by limiting the supply of critical components, such as engines and microchips used in drone production.

The latest sanctions underscore Washington’s ongoing effort to curb Iran’s military capabilities, particularly its drone manufacturing, which has been used in conflicts including the war in Ukraine. It is worth noting that these actions could have wider implications for international relations, as the targeted nations may retaliate or reassess their economic ties with the United States. Such developments could ripple through global supply chains and reshape cooperation among countries that either support or oppose Iran.

The recent sanctions are not only targeting military supply chains but also highlight a broader strategy by the U.S. to address Iran's financial networks.
