The USA has blocked the integration of HIMARS missiles: why Germany cannot strengthen EuroPULS

Намагання Німеччини підвищити оборонні потужності Європи стикаються з новими викликами.

US Refusal to Integrate Missiles

The USA has denied Germany the integration of missiles from the HIMARS and M270 rocket systems into European launchers, threatening interoperability among NATO members. This refusal has been ongoing for three years, complicating Germany's ability to strengthen its defense capabilities within the EuroPULS system.

As of now, Germany has five EuroPULS systems that cannot be equipped with the newly available PrSM missiles. This limitation is due to political and technical aspects that prevent the integration of these systems into the European defense architecture. The presence of such limitations may lead to a decrease in operational effectiveness during joint military exercises and operations among NATO allies.

Support for Ukraine and Challenges for Europe

At the same time, Ukraine will receive weapons worth 5 billion dollars, indicating continued support from the USA and other countries. However, the situation regarding the integration of HIMARS and M270 missiles raises concerns among European partners, as it may impact security and stability in the region.

The US refusal to integrate missiles into European systems highlights existing challenges in NATO's defense policy that could affect collective defense and strategic interaction among allies. This could pose a serious obstacle for Germany in its ambition to modernize its military capabilities, which, in turn, may affect the overall balance of power in Europe, especially in the context of supporting Ukraine. Given the current geopolitical situation, the importance of effective cooperation among NATO countries becomes even more urgent.
