U.S. Military Concludes Airstrikes on Iranian Military Sites
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the completion of the 11th series of airstrikes targeting Iran’s military infrastructure. These operations were carried out to safeguard international shipping routes that had been threatened by Iranian actions. According to CENTCOM, over the past three months, Iran has attacked more than 30 commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, raising serious concerns within the global community.
Targets of the Airstrikes
The airstrikes focused on critical military assets, including:
- Iranian command and control centers,
- naval facilities,
- aviation hangars,
- storage and assembly sites for drones,
- key military logistics hubs.
This response was triggered by threats that endangered hundreds of innocent sailors and undermined freedom of navigation. As CENTCOM stated:
“These unprovoked attacks put hundreds of innocent mariners at risk and undermined the freedom of navigation.”
Prior to this, on July 21, U.S. forces conducted a separate wave of airstrikes against Iranian-backed groups, hitting command posts, naval installations, launch sites for missiles and drones, as well as air defense systems. These actions reflect Washington’s commitment to ensuring safe maritime passage in the region.
Since May, with CENTCOM’s support, approximately 900 civilian vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz. These measures underscore U.S. efforts to stabilize the region and protect the economic interests of the international community.
