Presenting the new air defense system 'Steel Dome', Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that this step opens a new stage in protecting Turkish airspace. The country continues to actively develop its own defense technologies, making it stronger against modern threats. It is planned that 47 new installations will be used to create the 'Steel Dome', with investments amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.
«We are opening a new era in the protection of Turkey's airspace. The system will integrate 47 new installations. $460 million has been allocated for their production. Without our own radars and air defense systems, no country, especially in light of the current threats in our region, can feel confident about the future», emphasized Erdoğan.
According to the head of state, what seemed unattainable decades ago is now achievable thanks to Turkey's own efforts. This new system is expected to enhance the country's air defense level. In 2020, Turkey began developing its own air defense system 'Steel Dome', which is set to compete with the well-known Israeli 'Iron Dome'.
The newly presented air defense system 'Steel Dome' opens up the possibility for Turkey to independently protect its airspace and develop its own defense technologies against modern threats. This confirms the country's persistent development in this direction and highlights its achievements in military technology.
