Today, December 10, the draw for the second round of Euro 2026 qualification among U-17 teams took place, in which the Ukrainian national team (players born no later than 2009) participated. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing UAF.
The team led by Oleksandr Sytnyk, which finished third in their group of League A in the first round of qualification and will now play in League B, was placed in the first pot before the draw of the second round. As a result of the draw, the blue and yellow team found themselves in group B6, where their opponents are the national teams of Latvia and Albania.

In the second round, 28 teams (14 winners of the first round groups and 14 teams that finished second) will compete in seven groups of League A until March 31. The winners of the groups will join the host, Estonia, in the final stage, which will take place from May 25 to June 7, 2026. The draw for the forum is scheduled for April 9.
Meanwhile, 26 teams will compete until June 30 in seven groups of League B (five groups of four teams, two groups of three).
Both tournaments are important in the context of forming leagues A and B in the first round of qualification for Euro 2028 (U-19).
It is worth noting that for Ukraine to qualify for the World Cup, they need to overcome two more opponents.
In the playoff semi-final on March 26, 2026, our team will meet with the Swedish national team. If victorious, the Ukrainians will face the winner of the pair Poland – Albania in the final match.
The Ukrainian national football team has completed the first stage of the European qualification for the World Championship, which will take place next year in three countries of North America.
The last and decisive match was against Iceland, which the Ukrainians lost 3:5 in the first match, but due to several defeats (including against Azerbaijan), these two teams approached with the same number of points. However, the advantage was on the side of the rival of the blue and yellow, so only a victory in the match in Warsaw was necessary.

In the reported match, Ukraine defeated Iceland with a score of 2:0. The goals for our team were scored by Zubkov in the 83rd minute and Hutsulyak in the 90+3rd minute. This result allowed our team to continue the fight for participation in the World Cup among U-17 teams. The opponent in the next stage will be the winner of the pair Poland – Albania.
